Since the info is primarily meant for newbies switching it off by
default would defeat the whole purpose (as does the present
implementation in places where users are "prevented from seeing the
essential part" as you say).

Therefore, I still think it's a good idea to put this stuff in tool
tips (where there would be enough space to add even more info like the
name of the executable).
