Hi,

This is quite a weird question, but I'll ask it anyway :)

I've just looked at the KWord sources, and implemented a custom variable.
However, I was cheating a bit since David Faure told me how to do it ages
ago, as a way of getting into hacking (thanks David :) ).

However, the sources are so full of variable names, functions, and everything
(and I'm only a beginner programmer), that I'm finding it very hard to
understand how everything slots together.

What I'd really like to know is what the "best" way of getting acquainted with
the sources of a new program that you want to hack on is. Sure, this will
vary between programs, and some will be more complicated than others -- but
surely there must be some kind of generic technique that can be applied to
all programs to get a better understanding of the sources?

Many thanks
