I think that is the normal way, but I am not expert in this :)
AFAIK you have to generate the header and the cpp file manually and add them 
to the project as well. I just checked my KDevelop version and it is 2.0.1 
too.
And this version doesn't genertate the two files itself, as far as I can tell.

After you added the twe files (additionally to the ui f) and close/reopen the 
project, does the new class (same name as the main form in QT designer)
appear in the class browser?
