Look at Mosfet's liquid style -- if you pull up a translucent menu, and a window partially obscured by the menu updates, then you won't see the update *through* the menu (only around the menu). So... is it possible all of a sudden to have true, really really real-time translucency? There was a mock-up of how nice KDE can look with some careful shadowing and translucency (including, as you mentioned, Jono, a transparent Kicker) available at: http://dot.kde.org/1002403587/1002436006/1002465877/1002475491/KDE3.png The accompanying message is at: http://dot.kde.org/1002403587/1002436006/1002465877/1002475491/ I especially like the idea of being able to set a window's translucency. That is really a handy feature (when I am copying down data manually and can't cut-and-paste, I want to see both windows fully and unobscured). looks cool, definately something I want to see in KDE (among other things!).
