in which case it threw an error that pointed this out, not unlike the 
one thrown with the failure of the symlink to ../kde-common/admin. 
i'm trying to remember -- it's been awhile -- and there *was* 
something like that, but i think it was documented someplace, and i 
read the docs and didn't find it this time.
