After reading this comment and looking for more details at the URL

kindly has posted please let me say /one/ single thing from a german's
point of view:

For me - and for by far the most of people that I know - it is _not_ true
that we are blaming the USA 'for everything'.

In fact we are thankfull for the help we (or our parents, resp.) got from
both the american government (when following the Marshall plan instead of
listening to Henry Morgenthau jr.) and the american people (sending many,
many CARE packets to help us survive).  You /could/ have bombed us back
into the stone age - after seeing the german concentration camps - but
you did the contrary: helped us learn and find our democratic way how
to live together in our country and a better way how to interact with
other states...

The fact that there _are_ some points of view that we do _not_ share with
Americans does NOT change our GENERAL thoughts about the USA:  Even when
criticizing you we have NOT forgotten about the help we got from you and so
it is _difficult_ for me to criticize the USA - even in situations when my
brain tells me that I cannot agree to this position or to that act...

Today we are sorry, very sorry about the terrible things that happened by
this act of terrorism.

My big hope is that now the USA will _continue_ teaching us how to live in
a modern world by prosecuting the responsible people _without_ loosing the
american sense of Justice!
