^^^ this error is harmless and normally KDE will start regardless.

^^^ this, however, is not harmless.

and check you have the right file installed.
If you still see the same problem, then send the output of the following to
me:
1. the output of cygcheck -s
2. add an strace to startkde in .xinitrc, so it looks like this: strace bash
startkde >~/strace.output and then attach strace.output. (please compress
with bzip2!)
