Hi,

From the feedback I get sometimes, I guess LPRng will quickly replace old
LPR as print system (in distros as well as on customers side). However, LPRng
introduces a lot of new features and extensions that aren't supported by
the current LPR plugin, LPRng is supported only in the case it behaves _like_
LPR. New printcap structure, new fields in printcap entries, or global printcap
file using NIS server are features that might be interesting to support.

In that context I would like to know if anybody would be interested in adding
LPRng support into kdeprint (and maybe developing a dedicated plugin). I'm not
a LPRng user, I'm not familiar with it and I don't know all its features. So
any help would be appreciated, as the current basic LPR plugin becomes quickly
limited for use with LPRng. I don't have much time, and I don't intend to
develop that part, at least in the coming weeks.

Any volonteer?

Bye.
Michael.

PS: I you know an appropriate list where this request could be send, please do.
