The problem seems to be an installed mysql without the appropiate libmysqlclient.so. mysql is found by configure, but the compile fails because of the missing lib (at least for me). (only .la there) Maybe mysql-devel rpm is needed ? --disable-kde-db did the trick for me, but this diables the other plugins,too.
