Hi,

as far as I understand a pixmap has to have a certain size in order that the
X server puts it in the gfx card offscreen memory rather than into main
memory. I read a bit in the X sources and this seems to be decided on
whether it fits into a offscreen cell, which are allocated as 64x64, 128x128
and 256x256. is this true ?

so what special minimum / maximum size or other requirements must a pixmap
have so that the X server puts it into offscreen memory ?

Any expert around? Keith ?

Dirk
