This was a design decision. The very first version had all the wheels
re-invented: object inherittance, virtual methods, self-made data types
for lists, etc.

Lars ported it over to the gtk object model and the glib data types for
the reason of not intending to introduce yet another object model and
for making it easier to use for C programmers (who are most likely used
to the glib/gtk stuff) .

The idea was: C++ people use the real dcop implementation, C people use
the bindings ;-)
