It is filesystem, it seems.  I only get those errors when I update on
on the filesystem when it's mounted via NFS.  If I update on the
normal (reiserfs) filesystem, then I don't have any problems.

Hmm.. this started when I updated from SuSE 7.0 to 7.1.  I've been
having other NFS problems with 7.1 as well so I guess that makes
sense.
