X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kde-core-devel&m=98139372417125 Hi, There was a thread here recently about marketing and Kde. I am clearly not the only one who thinks kde needs more promotion and marketing, from a user standpoint and from a developer standpoint. I would like to see a list created to discuss those thing, so that we don't annoy people that don't want to hear about that. Gnome is very good in marketing. I have been discussing this with kde people and neutral poeple and there is a clear lack of promotion for kde in this area. Many people are aware that gnome has some interesting technologies, like componenent model, unicode, bindings, dialog designer. Usully, they also know that it is "under development" (understand a nightmare to use). And usually, they don't even know that kde has all these technologies, for a long time and that it is very easy to use and develop with. This is the kind of problem I'd like to address in a mailing list. I have a few ideas on how to help to correct that. The main way seem to be to write good articles on programming with kde, to show how easy it is. I think there should be such an article every two month on an online magazine like linuxnews. We should help coordinating the writing and translating of such articles, so that people could make one really easy. We should also advertise more on developer.kde.org, because it is really an excellent site. regards, Philippe
