Hi! It seems this whole PAM issue went out a bit untested ;( Greetings, Stephan -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: Bug#19292: unable to unlock screen when 'password required' is checked in screensaver section ...kcheckpass works on console Date: Tue, 30 Jan 2001 12:03:03 -0500 From: Andreas Pour To: Stephan Kulow References: <3A76EA3E.D5725794@mieterra.com> <3A76EF5E.71EAF101@kde.org> <3A76F026.C45979CC@mieterra.com> <3A76F0D7.7DDC9C93@kde.org> Hi, This solved the problem: cp /etc/pam.d/kde2 /etc/pam.d/kscreensaver Thanks! We should add this to the kde2.1beta2 FAQ -- that the service name *must* be kscreensaver, regardless of how you defined it in the configure script. As to the patch, I think it should be changed to use the service provided to the configure script, rather than hardcoding kscreensaver. I don't know why KDE needs to different PAM services. Maybe on some systems the same one doesn't work for both purposes, but it does on mine :-).
