....other that KConfig is in kdecore and KIO in libkio which depends on
kdecore ;-)
I think what could fit is to make KConfig not operate on actual files but
instead talk to a simple dcop config server, which handles these things
transparently (and which then can depend on stuff like kio) . I bet it
could even be done in a binary compatible way (only changing KConfig
internals) . But it sounds like quite a massive change, so it would
need good testing (and probably some time to develop that daemon) .
Oh, and...yet another daemon ;-)
Perhaps this is something for post 2.1, and in an optional manner
(like it is disabled by default and sysadmins can turn it on via
some KConfig switch ;) and by commenting out a line in startkde
(to start the daemon) .
Just an idea...
