Konqueror fails the "browser version detection" of quite a few sites on the 
internet because even though the user agent string is supposedly compatible, 
sites key off other data, including javascript object members. See this page 
for an overview, as well as the results of several stock tests for ie and 
navigator (which it claims Konqueror fails):

For instance, http://www.frontgate.com just won't let konqueror through the 
front gate.  Website broken by design, yes; what we want, no.
