We discussed it at the KOffice meeting.
It was mhk's idea to name the "idiot".

It _is_ simple. KDE2 1.0 is as simple as KDE 1.0 was.
The "2" is part of the name.

The nameing sheme is not idiotic but honest. KDE2 1.0 will be the first 
release of a new desktop that does not share more than the name with KDE 1.
