Hi

Ok, I discussed the external taskbar issue again with Matthias Ettrich last 
night and I came to the conclusion that all those hacks don't make any sence. 
We can do it right and now, or delay it for KDE 2.1. As much as I'd like to 
delay it, I got loooots of mails from people requesting this feature. 
Especially as several interviews/articles talk about the great feature to 
have the taskbar external or internal.

An external taskbar (and mosfets kasbar) done right would use the panel 
extension interface I'm planning since quite some time but did not have time 
to finish for 2.0.

Given the number of requests I'm willing to give it a try this weekend. While 
the changes don't affect the kicker core and thus I don't fear new bugs to be 
introduced, I'd nevertheless like to open a CVS branch for a few days.

Let me try till Monday, if it does not work out until then, I will close the 
branch and we drop the external taskbar and the kasbar vor KDE 2.0.
