A desktop menubar that doesn't extend to its full width... this looks strange.
Would this be caused by one of those kwin clients that doesn't extend menubars
to their full width ?

so it seems, whatever kwin is.

  1375 ? S 0:00 kdeinit: Running...
  1382 ? S 0:42 \_ kdeinit: kwin
  1383 ? R 90:47 \_ kdeinit:
konsole

I am attaching a screenshot. Btw ksnapshot cannot seem to do this,
it only grabs windows or the entire desktop. I used xv which lets me
select the wanted rectangle.

Let me clarify this: Until a few days ago the top menu bar extended
over the entire screen. Now it stops after the last item (Help). The
region right to the menu bar initially has the desktop background color.
Sometimes when moving a window into this region it just stays in that
color. Sometimes the window moved there will display correctly. This
seems to be random. And whenever I move a window out of there that
region does not get refreshed.
