I hope some of you may be interested by this : (original mail was sent to the vim developement mailing-list) ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: vim under kde Date: Thu, 1 Jun 2000 13:57:28 +0200 From: Thomas Capricelli Hi, I'm porting vim to kde. I've spoken to Bram Moolenaar and different people from kde about that some times ago. I'm working from vim 5.6. (don't have tried latest development version..). I'm about to release a first 'draft' soon, and I think this is the apropriate place to speak about this. I use latest KDE2.0 cvs for the development. I will probably make a small homepage for this to gather information on it until it (eventually) reach the main vim cvs. My main concerns are : ==================== autoconf/automake stuff : as I'm not familiar with those, I've harcoded the KDE stuff into configure.in ( i've tried to do it as nicely as possible, though), I will surely need help with this (qt/kde-specific acinclude tests and so on). Test on different platform. I use Suse/pc and linuxPPC/ppc for developping. I could make some test on solaris, but I for sure won't be able to test it on _all_the different platform available for kde and vim. Please give me any feedback. Those who have read this mail until here are rewarded with a screenshot :-) : http://aquila.rezel.enst.fr/thomas/vim/kvim-pre.png vim people : Oh. I intend not only to develop it, but also to take care of the maintenance. I _won't_ dissapear as soon as it's finished. I know Bram is fearing this kind of comportement. kde people : The vim kpart-editor will follow then. I want to use vim under kmail/kdevelop and konqueror (even read-only, I want colorization for visualization under konquy) greatings, Thomas
