Matthias and my testing back in October when we designed the system showed
that it could scale very well both on a data-size and a number of calls
basis.  This sort of data communication should be quite fast indeed.

Writing a simple test case for what you are thinking of doing should be
very easy.  I suggest doing that and then doing some timing runs if you
are concerned.
