Exactly, you get this (completely misleading, btw) error if
you have unresolved symbols in the lib. Ususally this is due
to changes in kdebase/kdesktop/libbgnd.la. Make sure this one
is up to date as well.

Well, to test, you can try to link the files from the
libkcm_display into an application. (Add a dummy module with a
main() function). The linker then will tell you :-)

I should add this test target to the Makefiles, as it is
really hard to find these bugs otherwise.
