So I thought I saw some talk about using (well, not using) .gif or using
.png for the icons and toolbar buttons.  Why not use .xpm.gz?  Wouldn't
that incur less processing overhead than a .png?  (I'm thinking in terms
of using libz, not a gzip pipe).

Just a random thought.
