Hi,
first, I thought I should post to a plasma specific mailing list, but could not find \
it. On KDE's hompage the "mailing list" page http://www.kde.org/support/mailinglists/ \
was reduced to just 4 lists or so... Any hint where to find all others ?
Now to the point:
I'm using 4.5 beta1 and see that over time plasma-desktop increases in memory usage \
in the X Server. xrestop -b shows after login:
0 - plasma-desktop ( PID:19300 ):
res_base : ox1e00000
res_mask : ox1fffff
windows : 71
GCs : 49
fonts : 1
pixmaps : 703
pictures : 716
glyphsets : 25
colormaps : 0
passive grabs : 0
cursors : 3
unknowns : 59
pixmap bytes : 74810458
other bytes : ~23176
total bytes : ~74833634
and after some hours
0 - plasma-desktop ( PID:19300 ):
res_base : ox1e00000
res_mask : ox1fffff
windows : 70
GCs : 53
fonts : 1
pixmaps : 1838
pictures : 1841
glyphsets : 30
colormaps : 0
passive grabs : 0
cursors : 4
unknowns : 99
pixmap bytes : 98498638
other bytes : ~51352
total bytes : ~98549990
Is it normal that the number of pixmaps/pictures increases that much ?
(Even when I close all apps except konsole)
Also /proc/19300/status shows for memory:
VmPeak: 348372 kB
VmSize: 346992 kB
VmLck: 0 kB
VmHWM: 108032 kB
VmRSS: 40952 kB
VmData: 79608 kB
VmStk: 84 kB
VmExe: 40 kB
VmLib: 85816 kB
VmPTE: 348 kB
and from top
19077 root 20 0 709m 96m 5716 S 3 4.9 33:08.71 Xorg \
19300 koller 20 0 338m 40m 13m S 0 2.0 4:40.45 plasma-desktop
Anybody else sees this problem ?
If so, I'll create a bko entry.
