something that came up during a private conversation was defining the role =

this part of it a bit more clearly:

this service only keeps track of the dbus services registered with it such=

that visualizations can find items to show, and apps can register items.

the actual data describing each item is communicated directly between the=20
visualization and the item so as to cut down on the number of times data ne=
