Thanks for pointing me to a relevant key word. This issue is about
proper handling of multiple selection ranges.

I guess that a couple of data management is involved to keep key
elements like model indexes consistent. Do more application examples
exist that will show mappings to more sophisticated data structures?

I wonder if the needed software infrastructure is already available why
the K desktop environment 4 had got difficulties to support this technique.
