Acknowledged. I'm going to come up with a stripped-down version with only
layout changes, leaving the one new feature (in-place year editing) out,
maybe that has got better chances for inclusion.

David Miller posted an awesome mockup during the original discussion.
Recognizing that it might indeed be a good idea, I think I'll try implementing
something that goes into that direction.
