It may be an option to have libkonq as an _optional_ build- (and with  
this run-) time dependency. We've gone this way with the KDE-3 branch  
of the Krusader Twinpanel Filemanager to use Konquerors service menus  
_if_ kdebase is installed...
(it's not a real solution for your problem, it only moves from the  
programmer to the packagebuilder/distributor :-/)
