I've compiled 3.5.5 from scratch and I can reproduce. So it's definitely not a 
packaging problem. I also can't print from Konsole, contrary to the 
commenters in bugs http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135522 
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135561.

I'll try reinstalling the kdeprint package from 3.5.4 and see if it fixes 
stuff as soon as I've got time (or I have to print something urgently) and 
report back.
