This is the most motivating thing. If one says "No one uses this" someone will say they do use this. (Me and others.) If one says, "It's not necessary" someone will say it is. (With slow hardware in developing countries.) If one says, "Another text editor is complexity" someone will argue what is and isn't complex. (Small, Medium, and Large too complex? Since when?) This is a preexisting, fully-functional application that has already been in KDE for years. If you don't expect dificulty removing it you haven't figured out how all this chaos works yet. However, if one says, "The maintainer of this program cannot be reached for comment, has not committed in 4 years, and no one has stepped up as maintainer in that span of time" those are facts that cannot be argued with. We have logs. A program untouched for this amount of time warrants a possible move to extragear before a major version release. Now one of 3 things can happen: 1) No one feels it is worth taking over KEdit. It goes to extragear and dies there. 2) Someone steps up and says they want to take over KEdit in extragear. Great! Nothing could please me more. Maybe it will take a new direction and we'll even see it added again in the future. 3) Someone steps up and says they want to take over KEdit but BEGS everyone (or demands; that seems to be the new thing) that we leave it in kdeutils. If 3 actually happens, THEN we should try and ask the new maintainer to please move it to extragear, using the point-of-view based arguments used before. Maybe it will even work. (A person can be swayed, a mailing list can't be.)
