As far as I can tell from the code in kstandarddirs.cpp and
kiconloader.cpp, all versions are affected. The workaround would be to
symlink ~/.kde/share/icons to $XDG_DATA_HOME or vice-versa. Another
possibility is to have either KDEHOME or KDEDIRS point to XDG_DATA_HOME.
The proper fix would probably involve adding a "xdgdata-icons" to the
prefix list in KIconLoader::init.
But this is not my area of expertise, so I could be way off the mark here.
