No idea really... I'd personnaly prefer to keep the amount of entry in 
system:/ as low as possible. settings:/ seem interesting to have at hand 
(even if I could easily consider ditching them since kcontrol is there), but 
I don't see a real use case for applications:/, you generally use the kmenu 
to launch something.

Please note that I'm not stating that the Unix file system organization is an 
issue. I'm just saying that since it's the entry point to most of the "low" 
level features of the system (from a desktop user pov) we should hide it by 
default.
