me second that ;) for example Kate has some HIG probs I guess, using kmdi, 
which is flawed atm in many ways (kate uses stripped down version without the 
mdi styles supporting "win-like" mdi or so, but still buggy)

don't know the new HIG, but it should cover the use of tabbing and the idea 
style mdi we use in kate, kdevelop, quanta (and even considering the sidebar 
of konqueror, in konqui, even while it doesn't use kmdi to implement it).

other question would be more a implementation detail, does we want a kmdi in 
kdelibs 4.x still supporting usability hell tabbed, toplevel and childwin mdi 
modes?
