KNewStuff is just a library name, use for whatever you want and (you should) name your dialogs and put texts to make clear for the user what can he/she do. It's somewhat similar to kdeaddons (extends an application), just that usually the "stuff" that you can get this way doesn't require compilation, so it's really a click & install for the user. I have an extension class in kdewebdev to add support for checking MD5 sum and signature of the downloaded items, just that I need some time to work and integrate with knewstuff from kdelibs.
