There is _one_ dimension of this proposed migration that I didn't see come up in the discussion. That is, while the most sensible and most important work will happen on the server side, we definitely must consider the implications on the client side. CVS didn't change functionality/features/formats since a very very long time. We must think of people working with KDE: translators, artists, documentation teams, the edu team etc. I believe these people are grateful to be able to have an ubiquituous and reputedly self-compatible client available from any distro released as far back as 8 years ago. Subversion is on the move. I wonder what kinds of frustration could bring the use of whatever version comes with even current distros, as opposed to using the latest "official" release from its development team. Not to speak of the other systems, of most of which I acknowledge I didn't even hear up to now, and that aren't most surely available as packages for . Yes, perhaps a minor concern, but think of it as an important addition to the much (concernedly) thought of barrier of entry to KDE development contribution.
