Thats interesting. Windows does not have multiple desktops yet.
Ah, animated desktop switching.

Seems that they look what others do, and quickly patent it before any product 
is released. Or they just play with what could be useful in the future and 
patent it.

Link is broken, but you can reach it from the patent text when clicking on the 
"Images" button on top or bottom of the page.

Yes, have seen at least the Gnome "Start" foot shaped button. Quite disgusting 
from them to use images of free projects. Like a spit in the face, IMO.
