I think KDE should always be able to use aRts, but I also think it should use other sound frameworks as necessary. But that's dependent on aRts actually being maintained. As it stands now is unacceptable. I guess someone's gotta do it. So. I make no promises. I have enough demands on my time already, and I've already tried to find a niche in this project several times to no avail. But no one else seems to want to do it, and if we want to keep it, something will have to be done.
