I forgot to point out that your own words refer to companies almost
surely in their infancy. Such companies are by definition small,
without previous structure, made people of different backgrounds. In
that context it makes sense to let everybody do things his way, but
such companies are a minority, again by definition.

Big, long established businesses just don't operate in that way. They
might benefit from it, OK, but that is another matter.
