Alsa has been in development since late 1997 and has been fairly stable for a while now. Linux 2.6 will be the first kernel to include it officially, but it has been available separately in many distributions for a long time. By the way Linux 2.6 will likely be released before KDE 3.2. Linus has stated that he will be doing 2.6pre kernels after the 2.5.70 release which was on May 26. Chris
