But nevertheless is a good guideline... Usually MDI is a bad idea (the UI Guidelines document lists some reasons why). There might be exceptions when it is done in an application-specific way like in konsole, but as a general guideline it makes a lot of sense to advise against using MDI, I think. -- Cornelius Schumacher
