the real bug is that changes to Desktop 1 cause changes to the All Desktops 
setting since they share a group in the config file ([Desktop[0]). changes to 
any other of the desktop settings doesn't do this. the background dialog 
ought to keep a separate set of settings for All and Desktop 1 rather than 
reflect the implementation details...

i'll commit the changes for this shortly...
