Basic? How basic? basic as in works in 1.4? or basic as in works in 1.5?
Or in 1.6? 1.7? As a matter of fact, this feature couldn't have been supported
before 3.1 as the automake version 3.1 supports don't implement it correctly.

I never said something else. I'm just saying it's basicly not supported 
because it's nowhere used within KDE CVS.

Your patch looks wrong to me. You're basicly removing these @AMDEPBACKSLASH@
within the Makefile.in
