Not an expert on that topic. But a developer of quiteinsane (SANE
front-end)
reported a problem when using KDEPrint: the app was freezing at a
KProcess
executed in blocking mode. Replacing that with a "system" call removed
the problem. No idea why the KProcess freezes (it's a simple "mv"
command)
but one of the possible reasons mentionned by that guy is that the
SANE backend installs some signal handlers, and this is not the case
with another test backend for which no freezing occurs.
