But there's still the chance that the filesize is the same=20 although the contents of the file was changed. And as the result of=20 such an unnoticed change could be the loss of all messages in a folder=20 we simply can't risk that. Anyway, our preferred mail folder format is now maildir which doesn't=20 have these problems.
