Add

set listchars=tab:·\ ,trail:·
set list

to vimrc. Credits go to Neil, who told this nifty feature to me on #kde some 
time ago. It highlights tabs and trailing whitespace with a special 
character, so you never have an excuse anymore to commit either of those when 
the surrounding code hasn't...
