Subject: Should KStandardDirs::exists() use KIO?

Currently it doesn't, and therefore you can't do stuff like
dir_apps=vfolder:/Applications/
to merge menu entries from that other desktop (gnome 2.0 uses a really
weird approach to desktop files - they're all in one flat directory, and
there's an Xml file describing the submenus. [A kioslave to read it is
ready.])
Should we port this stuff to KIO, or am I overlooking any reasons against
it?
