Thats a good point. Somebody pointed out already that the dropping of the 
"charset" handling for fonts has a side-effect: KDE2 apps run under KDE3 
will not get the right font settings applied, because we don't export the 
charset settings in the config files anymore (and KDE apps don't read the 
legacy X window property we export for Qt2 applications). 

I have no idea how to fix that though. :-(

Thats of course a high goal. 

The question is how to organize these things. I've already suggested a 
kdelibs API review but nobody had time for it as far as I could see (except 
for Lubos who spent 2 days fixing "missing d-pointer" cases (thanks 
again!)).
