In that case there should be an intermediate KFileConfigBackend to avoid code 
duplication in case we want another file based format later.

If you want true flexibility then we need a distinction between the 
serialization and the storage part anyway: it is possible to store XML data 
in a file, but also in a database. I'm not sure if I want to make it like 
that though, I think that would be a bit over-engineered...

Another option is to have setFileWriteMode() be an advisory method that 
should be honoured whenever the backend supports it, but is not mandatory for 
e.g. LDAP.
