If your doing open source the only gratification you get is pretty much the number of users that appreciate your work. Your whole attitude seems to be about getting KDE as many users as possible, why are you so recentfull of other people having the same attitude towards their projects. The fact of the matter is that KDE is still a very small desktop environment compared to Windows, and if you want an as large an audience as possible you can't ignore that.
