autofs/automount runs reasonable well with nfs but is horribly broken with 
removable media. What we really need for proper solution is support in the 
kernel for removable media.

Making the autorun feature desktop dependent (maybe together with GNOME) is 
fine though because most uses of this autorun feature expect an X11 display 
anyway.
